Sannai Maruyama Site is one of Japanese special historic sites located in Aomori, the northern part of Japan. This is the remains of a large village from the Jomon period (approx. from 5,900 to 4,200 years ago). The largest Jomon prehistoric site in Japan is registered as a World Cultural Heritage Site in 2021.


The remains of houses and large buildings have been found, so you can learn about the lives of people during Jomon period and the environment at that time. A large number of potteries, stone tools, clay figurines, and obsidian, etc. have been also excavated.
